The Parachute Regimental Association

Formed at the end of WW2, the Parachute Regimental Association (PRA) aimed to allow those that had served on joint operations an opportunity to continue the close bond they had developed. The following years of conflict that encompassed Aden, the Falklands, NI, Iraq and Afghanistan have seen these links continue to this day. Membership of the Parachute Regimental Association is available to all those who have served with the Parachute Regiment or Airborne Forces, their wives and families.

Nobody thinks they will ever need the support and services of the PRA but if you do, we are here.

If you are thinking of leaving the Army, through its wide network of branches, the Parachute Regimental Association may be able to offer advice and contacts within your local area and point you in the right direction.

​

The Association is a registered charity and governed by its constitution whose charitable objects are:
 

· To promote the efficiency of the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces by fostering esprit de corps and maintaining contact between past and present members thereof.
 

· To relieve either generally or individually persons who are serving or who have served in The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces or the dependants of such persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
 

· The commemoration and remembrance of those members of the parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces who have died whilst on active service and the encouragement of public recognition of the sacrifice made by such persons.
 

There are currently 77 Association branches nationwide, which are each registered with their respective charity regulator.

The Association’s membership covers all age groups and the many cap badges that make up Airborne Forces.

Branches welcome visits from serving airborne soldiers and are especially keen to hear about your experiences in today’s Army.

Ladies and Gentlemen

 

Remembrance Sunday, 8th November 2026. PLEASE NOTE: Strict Security will be in place with surrounding main roads closed from 0700hrs

 

Liverpool City Council will be holding a Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on St George’s Plateau. Veterans will parade onto the Plateau before the service, and the timings are:

    1. 0930 to 0950 Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces to muster at the corner of Lime Street/Skelhorne Street near the Crown Hotel.

    2. 1005 Cenotaph Sentries march off from the muster point.

    3. 1005 to 1015 Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces march off along Lime Street and take up our position on the Plateau. Pipes & Drums will peel off and take up position between the Lion Statues.

    4. 1055 Service of Remembrance commences

    5. 1130 to 1145 Whole Parade Marches off after Civic Service.

    6. 1215 Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces will reform at St John’s Gardens, at our Memorial Stone, for a short service of Remembrance.

 

After the ceremonies, and as in previous years, all Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces, family members, friends and supporters are invited to Lady of Mann on Dale Street. The bar is offering ‘Happy Hour’ prices from 1 pm to 4 pm, and tea and coffee will be available.

 

Please note: If the number of Veterans on parade and the number of spectators in attendance decrease, there is a danger that a parade may not happen in future years, just a Service of Remembrance on the Plateau. All Veterans are asked to make every effort to take part in the parade and encourage family members to come and view the parade. It will no longer be enough for Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces veterans to don their berets and medals and stand on the sidelines; they need to be ‘on parade’.

 

 

Armistice Day, Wednesday 11th November 2026 – Cenotaph on St George’s Plateau.

The Annual Commemoration of the signing of the Armistice in 1918 will take place at the Cenotaph on St George’s Plateau.

​

1015 to 1030 All Veterans to Muster on St Georges Plateau (There is no parade).

1045 hrs: A short Service will commence with the Act of Remembrance at 1100hrs, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony​​​​.
